MP: Cabinet clears appt of 103 Sub-Engineers

Bhopal, June 15: The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has decided to relax the general ban on direct recruitment to facilitate filling up 103 posts of Sub-Engineers in Public Works department, official sources said today.

The cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday, also permitted filling up 19 vacant posts of Assistant Civil Engineers reserved for Scheduled Tribes in Public Works department by promoting degree-holder Sub-Engineers of the ST category.

The cabinet approved creation of an additional post of Member in the Madhya Pradesh Appellate Board, which at present has three members, including the Chairman.

It was decided to abolish Value Added Tax on mattress cover, pillow cover, handkerchief, unbranded bedsheets, handmade utensils of brass, copper and bronze and Singhara. At present, 4 percent VAT was imposed on these items. The cabinet decision follows recommendation to this effect by a cabinet sub-committee.
