Army convoy attacked in Kashmir

Baramulla, June 15: Militants today attacked an army convoy with automatic weapons at Sopore in this north Kashmir district, official sources said.

They said militants opened indiscriminate firing on the army convoy near a Degree college at Sopore on Bandipora road today.

The Road Opening Party (ROP) and army personnel also retaliated and the fierce clash continued for some time.

People in the area ran for safety and traffic on the Sopore- Baramulla road was suspended.

The entire area was cordoned off and a massive search has been launched by security forces.

Unconfirmed reports said some security personnel and civilian were injured in the firing.
