APW takes on ULFA

Guwahati, Jun 15 (UNI) An anti-ULFA body today called for a united effort from the people of Asom to disapprove the ''false'' claims of the ULFA and oust it from the state.

A day after the ULFA accused it of engineering the blast at Hajo on June 13, the Asom Public Works said, the rebel group was passing the buck to the organization to keep itself at a safe distance.

'' There is no doubt that the ULFA is playing into the hands of Pakistan-based ISI and Bangladesh's DGFI. The rebel group stands on a shaky ground as it has lost whatever support it had, '' APW chief Abhijeet Sarma said.

Maintaining that by exploding a bomb in a minority-dominated area in lower Asom, the ULFA had invited the wrath of Bangladesh, Mr Sarma accused the ULFA of denying hand in the Hajo blast just to appease the government of the neighbouring country where it has its main bases.

Brushing aside the ULFA's allegations that the APW had colluded with the RSS to trigger the blast at Hajo which killed two people and injured 45 others, Mr Sarma said, '' The ULFA need not give its own certificate to the state's people, who are well aware of the outfit's motive and activities. '' Stating that ULFA isnow comprising some ''mentally-retarded person'', the APW called upon the people to rise against the extremists and their acts of cowardice.
