Aldea launches SaaS for SMEs

Chennai, June 15 (UNI) Aldea Infotech Private Limited today launched 'Software as a Service (SaaS),' a concept claimed to be unique in the niche markets of business intelligence and enterprise relationship planning (ERP) among others, wherein the company will offer software solutions as a subscriber service.

Addressing a joint press conference here, Aldea Chairman Ravindra Babu Kanthenti and Directors Sounder Rajan Sathappan and Siva Lakshmanan said SaaS was targeted at medium and small business enterprises which wanted to harness the advantage of IT to improve productivity and process but could not afford the high cost it entailed.

They claimed the global market for SaaS currently was 6.3 billion US Dollar of which India's share was only 7.3 million US Dollar.

This was likely to touch 580 million US Dollar by 2011.

The service would allow corporates to derive huge cost advantage as they paid only a fraction of the cost.

If a company planned to have its own in-house IT team, the cost of infrastructure, overheads and the given attrition rate would result in a great loss of time and productivity, they claimed.

Apart from IT projects, they would also foray into human capital market besides establishing a corporate finishing school to help students bridge the gap between industry expectations and education provided today.

The proposed school will equip them with a valuable portfolio of technical and soft skills necessary for success. This world-class school will bring about technically qualified IT architects who will be capable of working and managing large IT projects.

An estimated 5,000 students would have passed out by 2010, they claimed.
