Absconding criminal killed in encounter

Allahabad, June 15 (UNI) A hardened criminal was killed in an encounter with Special Task Force (STF) in Soranv area here.

Police today said on being tipped of STF laid a cordon to nab the notorious criminal Santosh Singh, who was in the city with two of his aides reportedly, to commit a crime.

Santosh died in an encounter with the police yesterday, whereas his associates managed to escape.

The infamous criminal was sentenced to life imprisonment last year, but he absconded, while he was being taken for hearing, on May 28.

Santosh had been registered for murder, robbery, extortion and others and was wanted in 23 such cases.
