9 wards prone to water-borne diseases
Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) The BMC health department has identified nine wards that are vulnerable to water-borne diseases.
The Sion hospital, the Nair hospital and the KEM hospital have made special arrangements for treating such patients.
Additional municipal commissioner (health and education) Kishore Gajbhiye told reporters, ''We have created 25 health-posts in the city that have been well equipped.'' He added that 50 additional beds will be arranged in each hospital during the monsoons for the benefit of patients suffering from water-borne diseases. All BMC hospitals are well stocked with medicines and other requirements, he said.
The BMC will take the help of the Indian Medical Association and the Nursing Association during the monsoons to prevent any kind of epidemic outbreak and spread of diseases, he added.
