6.5 per cent increase in iron ore production in SAIL'S mines

Ranchi, Jun 15 (UNI) The Raw Material Division of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has recorded about 6.5 per cent increase in iron ore production in first two months of the present fiscal in comparison with the last fiscal for the same period.

Communication head of the Raw Material Division of the company A K Singh in a release today said that Kiriburu, Meghataburu, Gua and Chiria mines had recorded an increase in iron ore production of 29.3, 27.6, 14.3, 10.7 per cent respectively.

Mr Singh said the company had set a target of producing 19 lakh million tonnes from the mines of raw material division and efforts were on to increase the production following demand of iron ore by the steel plants.

He said a blue print had also been prepared to achieve the target.

He said iron ore dispatch had been increased to 13.8 per cent which itself was an record.
