3 Sunni mosques burned south of Baghdad
Baghdad, June 14: Three Sunni Muslim mosques were attacked and burned by unidentified gunmen south of Baghdad early today, police said, a day after suspected al Qaeda militants blew up the minarets of a revered Shi'ite mosque.
Two of the mosques were burned in Iskandariya and a third in nearby Mahaweel. All were badly damaged in the apparent reprisal attacks.
