Stir continues: Indian cancels five flights from Karippur

Kozhikode, Jun 14 (UNI) The public carrier 'Indian' cancelled five flights to various destinations from Karippur International Airport near here as the nationwide strike called by Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) entered its third day today.

The cancelled flights were IC-598 Goa-Mumbai, IC-926 Chennai, IC-998 Kochi, IC-538 Dubai and IC-658 Coimbatore-Mumbai-Delhi, the airlines' Station Manager N Kannan told UNI.

He said arrangements were being made to fly the stranded passengers to their respective destinations by other airlines.

He said, however, flight No IC-997 to Doha and Baharain and IC-595 to Sharjah via Kochi would depart at 1500 hrs and 1815 hrs as per schedule.

The ground staff numbering 79, out of 85, were on agitation at the airport premises to press their pending demands, including realisation of arrears.
