State to build gadi bhavans

Dharwad, June 14 (UNI) Karnataka government has proposed to build 'Gadi Bhavans' in 62 border taluks as part of Golden Jubilee year celebrations of the formation of the state, Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadev Prasad said today.

Inaugurating Rs 51 lakh Suvarna Cultural Complex and a branch of Rangayana here, he said that that the Gadi Bhavans would be built with an intention to hold activities of literature, music and drama.

The government was constructing Suvarna Cultural complexes at seven places in the state and the first one was inaugurated here today.

The Minister said that to encourage Dalit literature in the state it was also proposed to hold a Samata Sambram programme at Dharwad in July this year.

Mr Mahadev Prasad presented a State level award 'Sant Shishunala Sharif award' to noted singer C K Tara.

State Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar, who presided over the function requested the Mr Prasad to hold valedictory function of golden jubilee in the twin city of Hubli-Dharwad.
