State govt to set up committee on controvertial book
Dharwad, June 14 (UNI) Karnataka Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadev Prasad today announced the formation of a committee in a couple of days consisting of senior researchers and literary experts to come to a conclusion on the birth of 11th century social reformer Basaveshwar.
Talking to newsmen here he said the committee would study the controversial book 'Anudeva Horaganavanu' penned by Banjagere Jayaprakash and other relevant proofs of the reformer's birth.
The government would clarify its stand on the controvertial book after the committee gave its report.
The Minister said the government would soon introduce a new cultural policy.
It has been decided to table a bill in connection with this in the coming legislature session, he said.
