Seeded Solanki finds Suraj too hot to handle
Chandigarh, June 14 (UNI) Fifth seeded Suraj Beniwal of Haryana snuffed out the challenge of second seed Sidhant Solanki of Delhi in a well-contested boys Under-16 singles semi-finals by 7-5, 6-3 in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Tennis Stadium here today.
Beniwal will now fight it out with local lad Raghav Singhal who ousted another Chandigarh player Jivtesh Singh Kang in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
In the girls Under-16 semi-finals, top seed Jaspreet defeated fourth seed Ravnoor Kaur of Chandigarh by 6-3, 6-3, while seventh seed Rajvir Kaur of Chandigarh shocked second seed Rimpledeep Kaur of Punjab 6-2, 7-5.
Jaspreet will now meet Rajvir in the girls Under-16 singles final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Living up to his reputation, top seed Nischay Rawal of Chandigarh advanced into the boys Under-12 singles finals as he defeated local lad Jatinder Singh 6-1, 6-2. Ranjeet Singh, a trainee under CLTA-Army scheme, also moved into the finals as he beat Amit Bzad of Haryana 6-2, 6-4.
Results: Boys U-16 singles (semi-finals): Raghav Singhal (Chd) bt Jivtesh S. Kang (Chd) 6-3, 6-2, Suraj Beniwal (Har) bt Sidhant Solanki (Dli) 7-5, 6-3.
Girls U-16 singles (semi-finals): Jaspreet Kaur (Pb) bt Ravnoor Kaur (Chd) 6-3, 6-3, Rajvir Kaur (Chd) bt Rimpledeep Kaur (Pb) 6-2, 7-5.
Boys U-12 singles (semi-finals): Nischay Rawal (Chd) bt Jatinder Singh (Chd) 6-1, 6-2, Ranjeet Singh (Chd) bt Amit Bzad (Har) 6-2, 6-4.
