Security forces organise flag march in Punjab
Moga, June 14: In view of yesterday's incident of burning of salons of followers of Dera Sacha Sauda in Sangrur district, the Border Security Force(BSF), CRPF, Punjab police commandos and the district police today jointly conducted a flag march here to create a sense of security among the people.
The march was led by SP (Hq) Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, city DSP Jaspal Singh and commanding officers of BSF, CRPF and Punjab police commando units. Moga which has a sizeable number of Sacha Sauda supporters is listed as a sensitive district.
Meanwhile, the police has set up ward wise peace committees in all the 30 wards of the town. Each of these committees will be consisting of five to eight members from the wards.
SSP Devinder Singh said "These committees will coordinate with the police in case of any emergency and will also provide complete information of mischevious people".
He also stated that similar peace committees would be established in all the villages of the district in order to maintain peace in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Arvinder Singh also convened a district level peace committee meeting this morning in view of yesterday's violent incident at village Cheema Mandi in Sangrur district.
