Rupee ends stronger at 40.90/91 per dollar

Mumbai, June 14: The Rupee today strenghtened by 6 paise to close at 40.90/91 as compared to the last close of 40.96/97.

The domestic unit, which started almost firm at 40.81/82 per dollar remained at similar levels in most part of the day but touched a day's low of 40.96/97 in late trade when some buying was witnessed in the market, said a senior dealer with a bank.

In the morning session, Rupee touched a high of 40.81/82 before losing in the aftrenoon session.

Reserve Bank today fixed Rupee reference rate at Rs 40.84 per US dollar, up by nine paise from yesterday's rate of Rs 40.93.

Forward premia today showed weaker. Six month premia ended down at 3.16(3.23) per cent and annualised premia ended at 2.96 per cent.

Against major world currencies, Rupee ended at stronger levels.

Against Euro, it remained unchanged at 54.27/28, against pound sterling the Indian Currency closed at 80.30/31(80.57/58) while Yen was also quoted higher at 33.17/18 (33.37) per 100 unit each.
