Lucknow, June 14 (UNI) Five passengers were reportedly runover by the Howrah-Kalka Express in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh today.

According to railway police here, the mishap took place near Ghasra station, when five passengers aboard Mahananda Express jumped off the train and came under the wheels of the Kalka Express coming from the opposite direction.

The reason behind their act was yet to be ascertained.

However, a few of the fellow passengers said they jumped after noticing smoke emanating from a hosepipe, while some others claimed the quintet were travelling without a ticket.

So far, police had confirmed only three deaths.

An investigation was on.
