Railway Safety Commissioner visits accident site

Visakhapatnam, June 14 (UNI) Railway Board Safety Commissioner Balbir Singh today inspected the site where 11 coaches of Nagercoil-Howrah Gurudev Express derailed near Duvvada railway station on Monday night.

Mr Singh was here to make an on-the-spot assessment of the mishap in which three peoPLE were killed and 26 injured.

Waltair Divisional Senior Commercial Manager C Venugopal told UNI that the damaged track was restored last evening.

Meanwhile, the departmental inquiry into the mishap commenced at the Divisional Railway Manager Office here, he said, adding that the Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express and the Visakhapatnam-Tenali Janmabhoomi Express passed through the repaired track this morning.
