'Puja' for divine security against terrorists

Mathura, June 14 (UNI) A special prayer ceremony was organised here seeking divine 'security' against terrorists for the lakhs of pilgrims congregating in the holy city here during the ongoing 'Karori Mela'.

The 'puja', organised at the much reverred Giriraj hillock last night, sought to propitiate Lord Shiv a to give terrorists better sense and understanding, so that they abstain from their nefarious designs.

Referring to a recent CD released purportedly by al Qaeda warning of strikes at multiple places, Maha Mandeleshwar Sant Krishna Das 'Kanchan Maharaj' said the religious ceremony continued till late in the night.

''The 'puja' aimed to connect the terrorists with the national mainstream through the intellectual channel. The rituals and 'yajnas' will certainly have a positive impact on the mindset of the terrorists,'' he observed.

A 'shanti yajna' was also organised here last year in the aftermath of the fidayeen attack on the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, which sought to invoke divine powers for the security of the religious places and pilgrims.

Meanwhile, unmindful of the adverse weather conditions, the devotees are participating in the various rituals with fervour.
