PMK chief calls for self-rule in Lanka

Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, June 14 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Founder-Leader S Ramadoss today advocated self-rule for the Tamils as the only solution for the Sri Lankan ethnic crisis.

Addressing the press at his Thailapuram Garden Residence near here, Dr Ramadoss said ''the Tamils and the Sinhalese should live in their respective areas. This is the only solution (to the ethnic strife).'' Citing the example of co-existence of Israel and Palestine, Dr Ramadoss claimed the world had recognised the fact that the Middle East conflict could only be resolved by co-existence of the people of both the states.

Similarly, Tamil Eelam was the only way out for peace to return to Sri Lanka, Dr Ramadoss said while lambasting the purported statement of Lankan Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa who claimed to have had the support of all SAARC and Asian countries.

Dr Ramadoss said the western nations, including Great Britian, had condemned the atrocities and human rights violations against Tamils.
