Paris Hilton transferred to Los Angeles jail
LOS ANGELES, June 14 (Reuters) Jailed socialite Paris Hilton has been transferred from a medical ward to a Los Angeles detention center to serve the rest of her sentence for violating probation in a drunken-driving case, officials said today.
Hilton, 26, was taken from the Twin Towers jail in downtown Los Angeles to the Century Regional Detention Center in the suburb of Lynwood 15 miles (24 km) south late yesterday night.
Hilton began her 45-day sentence at the detention center last week, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. soon sent her home because of unspecified medical problems. Because of overcrowding she was expected to serve 23 days.
A judge ordered the tearful hotel heiress to return to jail, to the chagrin of the sheriff's department.
