No lecturers in college, students boycott classes

Aizawl, May 14 (UNI) Students of Lunglei Government College here today boycotted their classes after the authorities turned deaf ears to their demand of appointing more lecturers.

The students had been repeatedly pleading the authorities to appoint some more contractual lecturers to solve the problem of inadequate lectures in the college.

''We want immediate action and if our demands are not fulfiled than we will go for other methods of agitation,'' the agitating student told UNI.

The decision of boycott came after the Higher and Technical Education Director's reply to the students' request that they would have to wait for another three months even for the guest lecturers.

Despite the concerned minister had okayed the proposal for contract-based lecturers, the director's suggestion of another three months time cannot be accepted.
