NHRC notice to Orissa Chief Secretary
New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission today sent notices to Orissa Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy asking him to explain the gross violation of human rights in the state.
The notice was sent following the alleged report of starvation in Nuapada district and another involving a 35-year-old tribal youth, Mangara Oram, who was stoned to death by a crowd for stealing a goat in Ludhuni near Rourkela.
The body of Oram was allegedly thrown into a river and the villagers had been threatened not to inform the matter to the police, a report said.
