Muzaffarnagar girl tops CPMT in UP
Lucknow, June 14 (UNI) Muzaffarnagar girl Manvi Dua has topped the Combined Pre-medical Test(CPMT) in Uttar Pradesh and a total of 15086 candidates have qualified for the state medical colleges.
CPMT results were announced here today in the presence of State Medical Education minister Lalji Verma and Principal Secretary (health) Arun Kumar Mishra.
Announcing the results of CPMT-2007 chairman K P Singh told mediapersons here that the topper Manvi got 170 marks out of 200.
He said Vinay Upadhaya of Kota, Rajasthan has achieved second position while Rajiv Kumar of Gorakhpur and Shailendra Pratap Singh of Lucknow got the third and fourth positions respectively.
Ms Rashi Kulshestra of Agra has achieved fifth position followed by Ms Akashanka Verma of Lucknow (sixth), Yugal Rajput of Lucknow (seventh),Rana Chanchal of Delhi (eighth), Abhishek Singh of Bhadoi (ninth) and Ms Afrin Bari of Gazipur (tenth).
Mr Singh said altogether 80,572 candidates appeared for the test out of which 15086 qualified adding that the cut off mark was 35 per cent.
Counselling from ranking one to 1500 would be held in all the six state medical colleges and Chatrapati Sahuji Maharaj medical University on July 5 while counselling from ranking 1501 to 6000 will be held on the next day.
On July 7, candidates qualified from other categories including SC/ST, Freedom Fighter, handicapped and rest of the ranking would be elegible for counselling, he said.
Of the total seats available in the state, 765 are of MBBS, 51 of BDS,300 of BHMS(Homeopathy),320 of BAMS( Auryvedic) and 80 of BUMS (Unnani).
The seats are spread out in six medical colleges at Allahabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Agra, Jhansi and Meerut. Besides this there are some seats in Chatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University in Lucknow and Rural Institute of Medical Sciences in Saifai, Etawah.
