MP govt claims 6 pc increase in high school pass percentage

Bhopal, June 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Narottam Mishra today claimed an increase in the pass percentage of regular students who appeared for the state Board of Secondary Education's high school exam in 2007.

''The corresponding increase is three per cent for correpondence students. For government schools, the percentage spurted by 12 per cent. Government school results were three per cent better than private schools. The number of government school students who bagged first class increased by eight per cent and those obtaining second class rose by four per cent,'' he told mediapersons here.

Girls outshone boys by four per cent and not a single case of mass copying was registered. Last year, 5,806 cases of copying were registered and that declined to 2,111 this time.

''SC students' pass percentage increased by six per cent, the corresponding ST figure is 11 per cent and the OBC figure is six per cent,'' Mr Mishra added.
