MCX turnover at Rs 2,902.18 cr

Mumbai, June 14 (UNI) The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 2,902.18 crore in the first session up to 1700 hrs and total number of trades was 54,279.

MCX Comdex--the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices--was up 0.42 per cent at 2138.23 points.

The MCX Metal Index was up at 0.26 per cent at 2517.82 points, MCX Energy Index was at 2199.20 points, and MCX Agri Index ended 0.65 per cent higher at 1684.76 points, a MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 872.09 crore of which gold was Rs 507.86 crore and silver Rs 364.23 crore. Gold contract volumes were 5,809 kgs and open interest was 14,467 kg while silver volumes were 203,055 kgs and open interest was 583,250 kg.

Apart from the December contract, Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded higher between Rs 2 and Rs 12 per 10 gm, with the August contracts up 0.06 per cent at Rs 8735 per ten gm.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, gained between Rs 4 and 8 per kg. the only exception being the December contract which was down by Rs 40. The July contract was up by 0.04 per cent at Rs 17,881 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 669.77 crore with volume of 22,239,000 kg and open interest of 16,524,000 kg. Copper contracts traded up between Re 1.10 and Rs 1.55 per kg with the June contract up by 0.37 per cent at Rs 300.55 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 500.01 crore with volume of 32,900 tonnes and open interest of 29,670 tonnes. Zinc contracts moved up between Rs 0.6 and Rs 0.75 per kg with the June contract up at Rs 151.65 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 259.59 crore with volume of 1,535,750 kg and open interest of 929,750 kg. Nickel for June delivery was up by 1.05 per cent at Rs 1,691.2 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 21.68 crore with volume of 1,932 tonnes and open interest of 6,238 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was up 0.45 per cent at Rs 110.5 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
