Maoists and police exchange fire

Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Jun 14 (UNI) An exchange of fire took place between the Maoists and Special Police party in dense Nallamala forest area of Yerragondapalem mandal of Prakasham district this morning.

On a combing operation in the dense forests, the police team found some Maoists hiding in the area and asked them to surrender. Not heeding to the police call, the Maoists opened fire on the police, forcing them to fire in retaliation, according to sources.

No casualties have been reported, the sources said.
