Lottery cheat sentenced to RI in three cases

Vijayawada, June 14 (UNI) The third Metropolitan Magistrate court today sentenced Euro lottery accused Kola Krishna Mohan to four years Rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 in three cases of forgery and cheating. Kola had been accused of cheating the Andhra Bank as well as the people in the year 1999.

Pronouncing the judgement this evening, the Magistrate C H Rajagopla Rao said in the first case of cheating the Andhra Bank to the tune of Rs 17 lakh, Mohan was being sentenced to two years under section 468 (forgery), 471 (forgery of a document) and 420 (cheating) of IPC.

However, The Magistrate pronounced that the sentence awarded to the accused would run concurrently for two years.

The Magistrate said if the accused defaulted on the fine, he has to undergo another nine months of simple imprisonment.

In two other cases of duping two financiers of Rs 21 lakhs, the Magistrate sentenced Mohan to two years RI uder section (420) of IPC and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. If the accused failed to pay the fine, he would undergo another three months simple imprisonment.

When the Magistrate asked the accused Mohan if he had anything to say the latter said ''I am innocent.'' UNI
