Lioness escapes from zoo, sighted in jungles
Junagadh, Jun 14 (UNI) A lioness, that had escaped from a cage in the Safari Park behind the Sakarbaug zoo this morning, has been sighted in the nearby jungles.
''We have located the animal and a watch is being kept. It has to be tranquilised. It is a matter of time before she is sent back to her cage,'' said Chief Conservator of Forest Bharat Pathak.
Speaking to UNI, he said the lioness Radhika, aged 10, was born in the zoo.
She had escaped after biting a zoo worker Rambhai Ranchodam who has been admitted to the Junagadh civil hospital with ten stitches, Mr Pathak said.
