Lingayats demand ban on book on their founder

Belgaum, June 14 (UNI) Several Lingayat organisations staged a protest demanding a ban on book 'Anudeva' of Banjagere Prakash for hurting their sentiments.

They burnt the effigies of Dr Prakash besides Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash for making supportive statements.

The book deals with controvertial caste issue of Basaveshwar, the founder of Veerashaivism.

The protesters also staged a Rasta Roko at Chennamma circle and submitted a memorandum to the District administration.
