Karnataka to build 'gadi bhavans'
Dharwad, Karnataka, June 14 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has proposed to build 'Gadi Bhavans' in 62 border taluks as part of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the formation of the state, Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadev Prasad said today.
Inaugurating Rs 51 lakh Suvarna Cultural Complex and a branch of Rangayana here, he said the Gadi Bhavans would be built with the aim promoting literature, music and drama.
The government was constructing Suvarna Cultural Complexes at seven places in the state and the first one was inaugurated here today.
To encourage Dalit literature in the state, it was also proposed to hold a 'Samata Sambram' here in July this year.
Mr Prasad presented the state level 'Sant Shishunala Sharif Award' to noted singer C K Tara.
State Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar, who presided over the function, requested the Mr Prasad to hold valedictory function of golden jubilee in the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad.
