'Indian' employees call off strike

New Delhi, June 14: The two-day strike by the more than 12,000 employees of the state-owned carrier 'Indian' was called off today after an agreement with the airline management.

According to sources, the management has agreed to pay wage arrears to the employees by 2008 instead of in the next three years.

The Government would also reconsider revoking suspension notices served on 23 striking employees yesterday.

Details of the agreement are awaited.

All 'Indian' flights are expected to resume in a few hours.

The Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) members had gone on a flash strike on Tuesday night, after their talks with the management over wage arrears and carrer promotion broke down.
