HC expresses apprehension over Govt's sincerity on eviction

Kochi, June 14 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today expressed apprehension over the sincerity of the State Government in evicting encroachers from Government land.

Considering a petition filed by one Jose Mathew of Kothamangalam, challenging the notice issued for eviction of property held by him, Mr Justice S Siri Jagan observed that ''we are ashamed that we have supported the action of the Government.'' Quashing the notice, he said the Court now had doubts about the bonafides of the Government in evicting the illegal encroachers.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had stated yesterday that political parties and places of worship would be exempted from the ongoing eviction drive at Munnar and other places.
