Haryana purchases wheat worth Rs 2,841 cr

Chandigarh, June 14 (UNI) The Haryana government has so far disbursed Rs 2,841.61 crore to the farmers for the purchase of their 33.43 lakh MTs of wheat during the current rabi season so far.

Stating this, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said 37.06 lakh MTs of wheat had arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far. Out of this 33.43 lakh MTs had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies which was 90 per cent of the total arrival, he added.

He said HAFED had purchased 12.88 lakh MTs of wheat and had disbursed Rs 1094.88 crore, while Food and Supplies Department had procured 8.13 lakh MTs of wheat on a payment of Rs 691.29 crore.

Food Corporation of India had procured 3.49 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed Rs 297.08 crore to the farmers and Agro Industries Corporation 3.33 lakh MTs of wheat on a payment of Rs 283.47 crore.

Mr Chander Mohan said Haryana Warehousing Corporation had procured 2.92 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 248.34 crore. Confed had purchased 2.66 lakh MTs on a payment of Rs 226.55 crore.
