GBN, Lokmat Group to launch Marathi news channel

New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) Global Broadcast News Ltd (GBN), owner of CNBC TV18 and CNN-IBN, will launch a 24 hour Marathi language news and current affairs channel through a 50:50 JV with the Lokmat Group.

''The launch of the Marathi channel is in line with the company's strategy of becoming an integrated media platform both nationally and regionally,'' said Mr Raghav Bahl, Managing Director, TV18 Group.

The Lokmat Group owns Lokmat and other publications including Lokmat Times and Lokmat Samachar.

Lokmat Group Chairman Vijay Darda said the JV will combine GBN's standards with the daily's reach and understanding of the Marathi mind.
