Gorakhpur, June 14 (UNI) To curb the menace of gastroenteritis, almost 35 task force teams have been set up in different areas here for water sample collection.

Divisional Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, after inspecting 70 wards of the city, today ordered the health officer (city) to get the city drains and roadside litter bins sanitised by June 20.

For speeding up the sanitation work, more sweepers could be appointed, he added.

Few of the wards inspected by the commissioner were Nandanagar, Girdharganj, Turkmanpur, Ismailpur, Khoonipur, Mirzapur, Jafarabazar, Allahabad, Narsinghpur, Chakkahusn and Rasoolpur.

Mr Kumar also received first hand feedback from the residents regarding supply of potable water and public sanitation.

He has urged them to help the administration in keeping the surroundings clean and maintaining hygenic conditions around.

In the last 10 days, about 122 gastroenteritis patients had been admitted in hospitals, of which 22 were stated to be critical.

Few private hospitals and nursing homes had also registered a remarkable rise in gastroenteritis patients.
