Doctor nabbed for foeticide racket in Gurgaon
Chandigarh, Jun 14 (UNI) Police have arrested a doctor and sealed his nursing home at Patauadi in Gurgaon district where a well containing foetal parts was unearthed, officials said here today.
Dr A K Singh, owner of Beaulla Maternity and Nursing Home, had been arrested and an FIR registered against him under section 420, 417, 312 and 315 of Indian Penal Code and Section 15 of Indian Medical Council Act, Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Health) Urvashi Gulati said.
Ms Gulati said a team, headed by Director Health Services O P Mittal, yesterday raided the nursing home following a tip off that it was unauthorisedly conducting sex detection test. They seized an illegal mobile ultrasound machine being used there.
The team unearthed a 20-ft deep covered well in the premises of the nursing home. Foetal parts, including bones, were recovered in a large quantity from the garbage dug out from the well indicating large scale foeticide at the centre.
She said the foetal parts were seized by the team and handed over to the police for test and examination at Forensic Science Laboratory, Madhuban. The digging operation was still continuing and foetal parts were being recovered.
The team also recovered instruments and medicines from the site which were used for conducting MTP. These medicines and instruments were also seized and sealed by the raiding party.
Ms Gulati said Dr A K Singh was convicted by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gurgaon recently for practicing as a Medical Practitioner with a bogus MBBS degree.
