CPI urges TN to abolish manual scavenging

Chennai, June 14 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary D Pandian today urged the Tamil Nadu government to take steps to abolish manual scavenging.

Talking to reporters here, he said the government should consult experts in the field to study the practice followed in other countries.

''The government should consider purchasing equipment for cleaning the sewage and abolish manual scavenging by setting a time frame,'' he added.
