Contaminated water claims 2 lives

Chhindwara, MP, June 14 (UNI) Two people died and 48 fell sick after consuming contaminated water at Deechhawani village in this district's Parasia sub-division in the last two days.

The villagers contracted diarrhoea due to consumption of contaminated water from a well, Block Medical Officer Dr V K Puriya said, adding Jagdish Panchu(42) and Sunil Budhhilal died.

He said 48 affected villagers were treated at Chandameta, while five seriously ill were referred to the district hospital here.

Collector Dr Arun Pandey has directed the field staff of Health department to carry out spraying of insecticides and distribute medicines in the village.
