Chandigarh Rowers make a mark in national rowing event

Chandigarh, Jun 14 (UNI) The city rowers returned with one Gold and Five Bronze Medals at 10th sub-junior and 12th Challenger National Rowing Championship held at Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad.

Dinesh Kumar, Nitin Gandhe, Khankar J V and Majer Singh of Chandigarh Rowing Association won Gold medal in the challenger category in the event of Coxless Fours (M4-) in the recently concluded championship held from June 4-10, 2007, Parmod Kumar Singla Honorary Secretary, Chandigarh Rowing Association said here today.

In the Coxless Pairs (M2-) of challenger category Khankar J V and Majer Singh won the Bronze Medal for Chandigarh.

In the Challenger category again, in the event of Double Sculls (M2x), Abhijit Gogie and Lal Chand also won the Bronze Medal, while Lal Chand won Bronze Medal in the event of Single Sculls (1x).

In the sub-junior Boys Double Sculls (M2x) events Ravi Inder Singh and Gurkamal won the Bronze Medal and in the sub-junior Girls Double Sculls (M2x) Bhav Shabad and Fiza Chopra won Bronze medals for the Chandigarh Rowing Association, he said.

In all, 14 teams from different states of the country took part in the events which were conducted at the course of 500M length.
