Presidential polls; Cabinet meeting postponed
New Delhi, June 14: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today postponed the weekly Cabinet meeting, held every Thursday, due to his political engagements to finalise the UPA-Left candidate for contesting the July 19 Presidential election.
It was doubtful that the Cabinet would meet even tomorrow, a PMO official said. ''Maybe, it would meet on Saturday,'' he said.
This is the second consecutive Thursday the Cabinet has not met.
Last Thursday, Dr Singh was away in Germany to attend the G8-G5 summit at Heiligendamm.
Dr Singh was scheduled to hold discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other party colleagues and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in connection with the Presidential election.
