23-year-old hangs self after dowry harrassment

New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) A 23-year-old woman, married about one-and-a-half years back, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws house in West Delhi Tilak Nagar area this morning.

While the in-laws of the deceased, Jyoti, said she hanged herself at their Tilak Vihar residence, police said they suspect foul play, according to sources.

Married in November 2005 to Vikas, who is unemployed, the couple would often quarrel which led to Jyoti living at her parents home in Subzi Mandi area for nearly six months.

She had returned about a month back to her 'sasural', sources said adding that the couple has an 11-month-old son.

Her father Raj Kumar alleged that she was regularly harrassed for dowry.

An SDM enquiry has been ordered, police said.
