20 injured as bus overturns

Ambala, Jun 14 (UNI) About 20 people travelling in a private tourist bus coming from Delhi were injured when it overturned near Model Town crossing in the city this morning.

The bus had left Delhi with 40 passengers for Jalandhar last night. The injured persons were rushed to the civil hospital here.

Bus driver Hira Lal and a passenger, Sudhir Kumar, from Ghaziabad suffered serious injuries. However, the doctors attending on them said they were out of danger.

The injured passengers, while complaining against the bus driver, alleged that he had boarded the bus after consuming liquor and was not in a position to drive properly.

Following objections from the passengers, he handed over the steering to an assistant who lost control of the vehicle at the Model Town Crossing.

The police registered a case against the driver.
