2 doctors remanded in police custody for helping murder accused
Rajkot, June 14 (UNI) A local court has remanded two doctors, arrested for allegedly trying to help murder accused Kandhal Jadeja to escape, in police custody for three days.
The doctors -- Sunil Popat and Tushar Shah -- had allegedly conspired to help Kandhal, the eldest son of ''Godmother'' Santokben Jadeja, escape from police custody while he was recuperating in a private hospital here on February 6.
Kandhal Jadeja stands accused of murdering Keshu Odedara on March 1, 2005. After his arrest in the case from Porbandar, Kandhal Jadeja was lodged in the Sabarmati Jail but later shifted to the Rajkot District Jail. He had complained of a spine-related problem following which he was admitted to the private hospital.
The police had sought five days remand but judicial magistrate N H Vasvelia remanded the two doctors in police custody for three days.
The doctors were arrested on Tuesday evening. They had allegedly misled the police and had also altered records in the hospital pertaining to Kandhal Jadeja.
