14 Flights cancelled due to strike by ground staff
Kolkata, June 14 (UNI) The on-going strike by the ground-handling staff of Air Corporation Employees Union of the national domestic carrier--Indian--continued to have its impact on Kolkata with 14 flights cancelled this morning.
These included flights to Port Blair, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangkok, Agartala, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Aizwal, Bagdogra, Kathmandu, Jaipur, Chennai and Bangalore.
Passengers, specially those to north eastern states like Asom, Tripura and Mizoram faced problems because of the cancellation of flights.
A spokesman of the Indian told UNI that in the morning only three flights were operated to Guwahati, Silchar and Dimapur.
Another flight to Silchar is scheduled to depart at 1510 hrs and one to Bhubaneshwar at 1430 hrs.
With ticket checking staff also joining the strike the management staff of the Indian had to man the check-in counter themselves.
