Sanjay Dutt may be sentenced on June 14

Mumbai, June 13: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's fate may be decided tomorrow, when he presents himself before the designated Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act (TADA) court Judge P D Kode in connection with the 1993 serial bomb blasts case.

As many as 100 persons had been found guilty in the serial blasts case, of which the judge has sentenced 73.

The remaining 27 include Dutt and his three friends -- Kersi Adajenia, Russi Mulla and Yusuf Nullwala, all the four have applied for relief under the Probation of Offenders Act. The judge has received the report of the probation officer, however, the contents were not disclosed during the last hearing.

Last week, Judge Kode had asked nine accused out on bail to appear in court tomorrow. They include Dutt and his three friends, dismissed Customs collector S K Thapa, Imtiyaz Gawate (an aide of Tiger Memon), and three women convicts Rubina Memon, Zaibunissa Qazi and Mubina Bhiwandiwala. Thapa and Gawate are suffering from various ailments.

Besides them, others whose sentences are to be passed are the planters and the three Memon brothers -- Yakub, Essa and Yusuf.

Others are Mohammed Shoeb Ghasar, Asgar Mukadam, Shahnawaz Qureshi, Abdul Gani Ismail Turk, Parvez Nasir Shaikh, Nasim Bharmare and Mohammed Iqbal Shaikh, Mustaq Tarani and Mohammed Farooq Pawale -- all were part of the conspiracy and took active part in planting of bombs at different places in Mumbai before March 12, 1993.

Six members of the group -- Bashir Ahmed Usman Gani, Zakir Hussain Noor Mohammed Shaikh, Abdul Akhtar Khan, Firoz Amani Malik, Salim Rahim Shaikh and Moin Qureshi -- hurled grenades at the fishermen's colony at Mahim.
