Russia urges Palestinian leaders to stop bloodshed
Moscow, Jun 13 (UNI) Russia today expressed concern over the exacerbation of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories, in general, and called on Palestinian leaders to stop the bloodshed.
"We call on the leaders of the Palestinian National Authority (PA) regardless of the political parties they represent, to do their best to immediately stop the bloodshed," the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement.
Many people have reportedly been killed and wounded in the clashes since June 7, breaking yet again a ceasefire signed two weeks earlier.
Hamas demanded that Fatah and affiliated structures leave Gaza and the Fatah leaders ordered the suppression of the "Islamist rebellion" and suspended their coalition membership with Hamas.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said Middle East 'Quartet' will hold their next meeting in Cairo, on June 26-27.
The meeting of foreign ministers from Russia, the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations will be precede with a session of the mediators' special envoys in Washington next week, Russian envoy Sergei Yakovlev told RIA Novosti news agency.
