Nirupam Sen announces new industrial projects
Midnapore, Jun 13 (UNI) In a bid to give a facelift to West Midnapur, State Industries Minister Nirupam Sen today announced more than half a dozen new industrial projects for the district.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Sen said among the new projects that would be coming up shortly in the district are Bio-tech Park at IIT, Kharagpur, Auto Component Manufacturing Project at Guptamoni and Emami Paper Mill at Rohini.
Mr Sen said expansion of Tata Metallic at Gokulpur, Shyam Steel project in the vicinity of Jhargram, Videocon project near Kharagpur and Telecon in Kharagpur besides the 35,000 crores Jindal Steel Projects at Salboni would also be taken up.
Earlier the minister held a high level meeting along with State Paschimanchal Unnayan Parshad Minister Susanta Ghosh, State Environment Minister Sailen Sarkar, District Magistrate Bhabani Prasad Barat and other senior officials of the district. The total investment for all these projects would be Rs 50,000 crores, Mr Sen said.
He said the opposition's allegation that the state government was taking over only multi cropping areas like Singur would be falsified with these investment as these were made in the arid and literate zone.
