Khandu stresses on coordinated effort to accelerate road projects

Itanagar, Jun 13 (UNI) Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has called for better coordination between state public works department(PWD) and Border Roads Organisation(BRO) in implementing road projects in the state to benefit the people, especially those in remote areas.

Presiding over a high level meeting on various road projects undertaken by BRO and PWD here yesterday, Mr Khandu urged the engineers to explore the possibility of tunnels to avoid accidents and shortening their distance, official sources said here today.

Directing the officials to hold frequent meetings and discussions on road development, he called for ensuring safety measures on all bridges taken up at the different parts of the state.

Assuring all support in the implementation process, BRO Project Vartak chief engineer S S Porwal informed that over 30 per cent of its road projects were in Arunachal Pradesh.

In an effort to remove the communication bottlenecks, especially in East Kameng, Kurung Kumey and Upper Subansiri districts, three roads-152 km Yangte to Limiking road, 90 km Sangram Siang Taju via Nyapin and RA-3 Mago via Ram Sapper and Luguthang-were identified to be taken up in priority.

Principal Advisor to the chief minister Tsering Gyurme, PWD Commissioner Otem Dai, senior officials from PWD department including eastern zone chief engineer Bora Ete, western zone chief engineer T H Tayung and design and planning chief engineer Tomi Ete attended the meeting, the sources added.
