Four hardcore militants shot dead

Imphal, Jun 13 (UNI) Altogether four hardcore Kuki militants were shot dead by troops of Assam Rifles at Senapati and Tamenglong district yesterday.

PIB (Defence Wing) today said that acting on a tip-off that some militants were indulged in extortion at Thonglan Akutpa along Imphal-Tamenglong road, the 14 AR had conducted an operation at the area yesterday.

The miliants opened fire on the AR patrol party to which they retaliated thereby killing the four KNF(P) cadres at Gelnel village under Kangpokpi police station.

One LMG and M-16 rifle along with huge ammunition were recovered from them.

Major Dahiya, who led the operation group, was injured and rushed to the military hospital.
