Four firearms recovered from Chahal's residence

Patiala, June 13 (UNI) The Punjab Police today recovered two revolvers and two pistols from the private residence of B I S Chahal, the high profile media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The four licensed weapons were recovered during a search of Chahal's residence by a police party from Ludhiana, official sources here claimed.

The police party headed by Ludhiana SP (city) Harish Kumar had brought Chahal here for recovery of weapons, which may have been used for threatening and grabbing land of a farmer of Ludhiana district.

The police had arrested Chahal and six of his relatives on June 10 at Ludhiana after registering a case against them at the Sadar police station there. The case was registered under sections 307, 452, 447, 379, 148 and 149 of the IPC following a complaint by a farmer of Daad village near Ludhiana who had alleged that he was beaten up and threatened by Chahal and his associates as he had resisted their attempts to grab his land worth crores in October last year.

Chahal and five others named in the case are currently in police custody.

After searching his residence for nearly three hours the polce party later took Chahal back to Ludhiana. During the search Congress MLA from Bathinda, Harminder Singh Jassi also was present outside the residence. Jassi is a close relative of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh.
