WB: Five killed in lightning in North 24-Parganas

Barrackpore, Jun 13: At least five people were killed and four injured in North 24 Parganas due to lightning during heavy thundershowers this morning.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals here.

While four people were killed in Rajarhat area, a cultivator was killed at Patkelghata under Bagdah police station when he was proceeding towards his farmland this morning, police confirmed.

Police identified one of those killed in Kestopur as Swapan Pramanik(45), who was killed by lightning at Rajbansipar Mission Bazar at about 0745 hrs. Another 65-year-old Mihir Mondol of Mondalpara was also killed.

Another incident occurred at Kulgachhi, details of which was yet to reach, a senior police officer at the district headquarters said.
